The Butiama Cultural Tourism Enterprise receives its first visitors

The 24th August 2011 was a historic day for Butiama's cultural tourism program as the first day of the commencement of the Cultural Tourism Program. Five visitors from Karatu visited the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Center, one of the attractions under the Butiama Cultural Tourism Enterprise (BCTE).

In the photograph above, the visitors who made history are, from left to right, Angela Petro, Marietha Tahhani, Sophia Gurtu, Veronica Elias, and Witness Ernest.

The sixth on the extreme right is Thomas Itembe, a first year student of the Bachelor of Tourism Management program of the Sokoine University of Agriculture who is one of four students on a field attachment at the BCTE and was the guide who led the five visitors around the Mwitongo area.

Behind the six is the mausoleum of Mwalimu Julius Nyerere (1922 - 1999), Tanzania's founding president.
