The power shedding schedule introduced by the electricity supply firm, TANESCO, meant less light and more hours of darkness - when the candles were not lit.
When the candles were lit and with little else to do, I took out my camera and snapped a few images of the candles against the dark background and was impressed by the images.
I promised myself if the photos won any prize in a photo contest, I would credit TANESCO during my acceptance speech.
